Pure Travel Group - Responsible Tourism & Environmental Policy

Pure Travel Group has its head office in Golden BC, Canada. The area is known as Kicking Horse Country and is blessed with some of the world's most outstanding natural beauty. We are surrounded by 6 national parks, 2 of the World's most impressive rivers; the Kicking Horse and Columbia, an area of outstanding natural beauty in the Columbia wetlands and 3 World renowned mountain ranges.

It is this privilege that drives our thinking and environmental philosophy. Tourism is one of the biggest industries in the world and touches most communities in some way or another.

The very fact that people move from one place to another in order to experience such beauty has a direct or indirect impact on the environment.

We believe that in order for future generations to experience what we have here in Golden and Kicking Horse Country BC, Canada, all providers involved in Tourism have to do their bit. Below are some of the steps that we at Pure Travel Group take to minimise our impact on the environment:

Our Vehicles

  • Our pure ride shuttle and transport solutions aim to reduce the amount of cars on the road in Kicking Horse Country. By offering an alternative to rental cars we hope to play our part in reducing C02 in the area. By choosing our airport shuttle you can eliminate the emissions of as many as 12 rental cars per day.

  • We pay a carbon tax which is a revenue neutral tax used by the B.C. government to encourage businesses and individuals to reduce their carbon footprint.

  • We have a no idling policy for our vehicles when parked.

  • Our drivers are all professionally trained in safe driving and, just as importantly, driving to save emissions through fuel efficient driving techniques.

Our Office, administration and marketing

  • All paper and marketing materials that we use in our office are made from recycled products where possible.

  • We adhere to a reduce-reuse-recycle mantra; all paper/cardboard/ plastic and glass bottles are recycled. We reuse folders, paper and other stationary items where possible and we use washable mugs for our coffee and tea.

  • We use Fair trade tea and Coffee.

  • We ensure that all non essential lighting, such as outdoor signs are switched off when we leave the building or they are not being used. Who needs to see our sign at 3.00am in the morning?

  • All printer cartridges are recycled through the manufactures own schemes.

  • We source as many of the supplies we need to run our business from local companies, hence reducing wasted transport miles.

  • We don't send out tickets and other literature; our booking confirmations can be printed off at home or kept in your PDA handset. You can chose the most environmentally friendly method to bring this information on vacation with you.
